The Runnies played a Mudqueens event over the weekend, and beyond playing a fun show I found the spectacle quite rewarding when it came to documenting it. The lights, the colors, the glossy finish of the mud; it would make a good test shoot, if I thought that way, but then that that would be dirty.

Tucked in between the sweet stylings of the Other Minds and the ferocious roar of White Mystery was Charlie Slick. Armed with Beats,Synthesizers, and Glitter, Charlie Slick not only brought the dance party but loosened the hard exterior of crowd of garage/psyche rockers that didn't see it coming.

I started to collect my doodles as a way to create a personal journal. Words have never been hard for me but emotions have always had a strong pull on me forcing my mouth shut and eyes closed. Doodling seems to be a good way of freeing my thoughts through channeling them into informal ephemeric excercise.

The Coolest Kid in the Whole World!!!

I went to the B-Known B-boy Battle this weekend expecting to see some good breakin' but i didn't expect to see this; (starting at 2:36)

Not only is the is kid already master of his domain, but when he got kicked in the head, you could see the tears well up in his eyes, but he still was able to pull off a wicked head spin that laid shame to all who would be willing to step up. If nothing else he's another example of what you can a accomplish, not only when you put you're mind to it but also your heart.

Music means a lot to me, it always has served as a force that can bring people together whether in collaboration or a drunken nostalgia. Chicagogo!!!

I first heard about Chicagogo, like 10 yrs ago and instantly i saw it as one of those quintessential chicago things, like seeing the view from the women's bath room at the Signature room, or riding the Halloween Critical Mass, surviving the post-firework scramble after the third of July. Granted there are probably more glamorous things that can go on that list(eating deep-dish pizza, going to cubs/soxs games, going to navy pier), but those things don't seem to encapsulate the true 'whateves' spirit that makes the Chicago truly great. But the reason for this post is to showcase, my man russ, who is on his way to embracing what chicago is all about thanks to this appearance on this Chicagogo from 2000.

It's such a beautiful diverse city that seem to have to much history to be contained by it's narrow streets but as the neighborhoods strech out into every major cardianal direction the spaces created are filled by sketches of modern living filled by the colors of dicerning palette.

On Saturday April 4th, 2009 I assisted Marta Garcia in documenting Division street. We started at Marine and Division and proceeded to take a picture, from the south side towards the north side, every couple feet for four miles until we hit Division and California. It took us four hours but it was a wonderful meditative experience. The final project will result in a stitched together Panorama. I'm happy to have been apart of such insightful project.

A Lifetime Across The Brooklyn Bridge . (a work in progress) Cuban -American Photographer captures the following on this walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Key thoughts/themes in my life during and just prior to the day I was making this piece: 11:11. The Buddhist philosophy about the possible lifetimes shared between strangers, Karmic connections between the people - even strangers . The symbol of a bridge- A suspended bridge- The Brooklyn bridge history. The clouds traveling past the Sun. The Sun traveling past the clouds. Moving on, Moving forward, Caged in/Freedom..... Be Good to one another.

So one day I did a man a favor and photographed some maladies for self-diagnosis purpose. We talked about the self-healing capabilities of the body, we talked about the subversive effects of industrial insurance society, and the importance of find honesty in others. When he first called me, I told him I would shoot it all for free just because of the peculiar opportunity, but he insisted on paying me for my time. So we talked and took pictures and I sent him on his way with a cd of images of his liver, his finger and a knotch taken out of his tooth.

Here is some new work i have been working on. I don't know what i feel about it but i know I've been thinking about it for a while. I made them in photo shop but i think i want to put them on transperacies and make screen prints out of them. I know they are reminicent of that other guy who did the people pictues(I can't remember his name) but the message seems more important than the method. If nothing else this my first attempt at doing something like this so it will evolve over time. This is just a sampling of it but I'm trying work on it little by little.
